600 x 450mm pothole rapidly increasing in depth and size

Adroddwyd drwy mobile yn y categori Pothole yn ddienw am 12:03, Dydd Gwener 16 Ionawr 2026

Anfon at Oxfordshire County Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 8701331.

Rapidly increasing in size, this has developed over past 10 days from a shallow hole. Now 75 mm deep and rapidly pulling more of the road away. Also hard for cyclists to avoid. Anyone who hits this pothole at night will damage tyres and rims.

  • This pothole still hasn’t been repaired and needs to be actioned as a matter of priority. Unable to see it in the dark when filled with water and it completely blew my tyre and caused possible suspension/wheel arch damage even at low speed last night 16.01.26.

Since traffic lights were installed at the Banbury Road/Southwold Lane junction, this previously quiet/little used lane has seen a significant increase in traffic/larger vehicles as a direct result of the diversions that were put in place during the works. This should have been anticipated as a potential outcome by the Council as part of their due diligence. There are numerous potholes/road edging damage and the whole road needs to be properly resurfaced rather than re-patched.

  • Hit this pothole at just under 20mph and caused a bad tyre blow out, couldn’t see it as there was another car coming. The hole being filled with water it blends into the road making it impossible to see and judge how deep it actually is.

  • Pothole still present and getting bigger. Filled with water so very hard to see at night. Damage to vehicles aside, this is going to cause a very serious injury if this isn’t dealt with soon

  • Might have been 'actioned for repair' but has not been marked up in any way (normal white lines around road defect) Probably not going to be undertaken for a long time. Each day that passes the break up of the road continues, the pile of hole removed material continues to grow. I truly wonder what the time scale is for such a defect.
