Highway Trees on Road damaging private property

We live at The Gables (CB11 4RY). There are trees on the main road verge adjacent to my property whose branches are overhanging into my garden, causing damage to my fence and hedges and touching my boundary. They are pushing against my fence which is now ‘bowing’. In addition, a large branch fell off the tree in the corner causing it to fall in our garden where our young children play. Once the spring comes they will be larger and heavier.

The branches are to be coming from trees on/next to the highway verge, not on private land. This is causing ongoing damage and concern for safety. In addition they are over hanging the other side onto the road causing difficulty for drivers. We have many drivers stop and knock on our door asking for them to be cut back. They need to be cut back before spring time nesting. We have lived here 5 years and they have never been cut and just got worse. Please can someone arrange inspection and necessary pruning to avoid further damage and someone getting injured. Thank you. Mrs Wright.
