Insufficient lightning on The Drive

The street is extremely dark at night, which makes it difficult to see pedestrians, vehicles, and potential hazards. It also increases the feeling of insecurity for residents walking home after dark.

This is not related to a single faulty lamp — the entire street is generally under-lit. I would be grateful if the council could review the lighting levels.

The brightness under each street lamp is fine, but it’s the fact that the street lights don’t project enough light in the spaces between the street lamps, which makes for extremely dark areas.

This has been an on going issue since the installation of LED lights in the street.

This issue can increase the chance of car theft and make the road unsafe for people walking down the street late at night.

    We are not currently looking to adapt or change the layout of the columns on The Drive, as the spacing and light levels are commensurate with similar roads that the council have chosen to light within the borough.

    The current policy is to continue to replace columns that have reached the end of their service life throughout the Borough, and we are currently not adding columns to roads, or installing lighting schemes, or considering the changing of existing column layouts.
