Safety concern – junction of Berkley St & Claremont St, Glasgow (collision involving cycle lane)

I’d like to report a safety concern at the junction of Berkley Street and Claremont Street, next to the Gurdwara in Glasgow (G3 area).

I regularly use the segregated cycle route along Berkley Street, and on 20/10/25 at approximately 17:10 I was involved in a collision at this junction. A driver turning left across the cycle lane failed to give way and struck my bike, knocking me onto the road. Fortunately, I was not seriously injured, but I sustained a sprained wrist and damage to my bicycle.

From regular use of this route, I’ve noticed that the layout and markings at this junction make it difficult for drivers to recognise that cyclists have priority. Visibility and driver awareness appear poor, and the turning movement across the cycle lane feels unsafe.

I would be grateful if the council’s roads or active travel team could review this junction for potential safety improvements — for example clearer give-way markings, improved sight lines, or physical measures to slow turning vehicles.

I’ve already reported the collision to Police Scotland for record-keeping (reference available if required).
