Drain you updated as fixed is not fixed

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori Blocked Drain yn ddienw am 16:25, Sul 29 Mehefin 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Anfon at Bromley Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 7781429.

The blocked drain I reported over a year ago has still not been cleared and status has now been changed to fixed. The drain still need to be cleared and no action has been taken on it. This is not the first time a report has been closed as fixed with no action having been taken. Please forward me details of the Council oversight process of repairs as it does not appear either robust or adequate.

  • This is STILL NOT FIXED. All that has happened is that the top inch or two of some of the debris have been cleared but the drain has not been unblocked as per attached photo. I am also still awaiting your oversight procedures for this process - it seems they are not working or not being properly complied with.

  • The contractors are contracted to attend an asset twice and they will close the enquiry although the gully might not have been cleaned. The source of the issue appears to be more complex than a simple routine cleanse. Roots were discovered in the drain and specialist equipment is required to remove them. This will need to be scheduled alongside cyclic drainage cleans, emergency call outs, pre-planned drainage operations and ad-hoc call outs meaning they are often undertaken not in the order that they are reported but in the order of degree of urgency - The location is deemed , by the Government's Flood Risk website , to be very low risk. Due to the expense of specialist work, they are also undertaken in bulk. Therefore, non-urgent work may take some time to complete. While this FixMyStreet report will be closed the issue will remain on our list of outstanding drainage works until such time that they can be completed. We thank you for your patience and understanding on these matters.

  • This government service you refer to does not tell you: about flood risk from sources such as blocked drains and burst pipes. Therefore your comment bout it being a very flood risk is irrelevant. The blocked drain in question flows onto a busy roundabout constituting a surface water hazard that could lead to road traffic accidents. Insurers could subrogate claims they pay as a result against the council. I would recommend this is given the priority it deserves.

  • Thanks for your additional comment. As advised, roots were discovered in the gully pot and specialist equipment is required to remove them and this is being organised as part of a bulk package.
