Hi… ahead of Storm Eowyn please could you send a Large Sucking Lorry and ask them to Reverse under the Railway Bridge and suck out the drain for us? We are on a Twice a Year Hoover Out Schedule and so far I haven’t seen or heard it happening… but I noticed last time it rained the drain was Blocked and it would save everyone a lot of Stress if this could be Prioritised ahead of Storm Eowyn. Thanks

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

    We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

    Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

    Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently.
