Risk of accidents to Pedestrians and Cyclists

Adroddwyd yn y categori Pavements/footpaths yn ddienw am 16:16, Llun 7 Medi 2015

Anfon at Tower Hamlets Borough Council 4 munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 686265.

For the attention of London Transport

The amount of pavement left outside the old St Clements Hospital (due to construction works hoarding outside St Clements and cycle superhighway 2 upgrade works) is too narrow and is likely to cause accidents once the new cycle lane opens.

Photo is from the entry to the St Clements site looking west.

As a result once the cycle superhighway opens it's very likely that: 1) EITHER pedestrians will either step off the pavement - into the cycle superhighway - to 'overtake' pedestrians walking slowly 2) AND/OR pedestrians will walk around oncoming pedestrians using buggies / wheelchairs which take up the width of the pavement available. (written from personal observation/experience today)

There's a significant risk of nasty accidents to bikers and pedestrians in relation to all pedestrians and cyclists travelling west if the pedestrians don't look behind them before they step into the cycle lane.

There is no problem once the hoarding comes down - however it's likely to stay up for at least another year.

Move the hoarding back to make more room on the remaining pavement?
