Extensive area of potholes across the roa

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori A pothole in road yn ddienw am 12:18, Dydd Llun 21 Hydref 2024

Anfon at Gloucestershire County Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 6640470.

Brings.initiates.buzzing I am on the Cold Aston Parish Council with responsibility for Highways and have recently reported this to you as the road deterioration has been dramatic following the recent road closures on the Fosse Way. You sent people out last week to carry out some repairs and all of our hopes were raised as the road was temporarily closed. However despite me saying that the repairs have been carried out inadequately twice before you still have not done a thorough repair and the potholes still go across the road so they cannot be avoided! This is just one issue on this road as the entire length of it from the Fosse into the village is in a terrible state. PLEASE send a surveyor out to prepare a proper report on the damage and get back to me with a plan for remedial work. There are numerous potholes and broken edges which at the very least are awkward and at the worst potential lethal, especially now that all the defects are covered in leaves and full of water. This poses a high risk of an accident and a great danger for motorists, cyclists and horses and is totally unacceptable. The verges are so badly damaged in places that they can no longer be used as passing places and there are no official passing places on the entire length of the road. The road is so muddy as well. Please reply in person to this with your intended action. Many thanks

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
