Drains across the pavement under metal covers blocked as are the main drains on Gumstool Hill.

The drain outside number 26 that runs from the down pipe across the pavement to the road is blocked, as are a number of other drains on the same side of the street. The main drains in the gutters are also blocked with silt and other rubbish. The residents would be grateful if this could be addresses a rain water cannot run away properly and is backing up in the down pipes and leaking out of the connections. This in turn could lead to damp issues in the houses concerned. Many thanks

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
