Investigating
A total of 7 (Seven) Drain inlets are completely blocked from the start of the junction shown on the map from the T junction at B4019 and then down the Holloway Lane until you reach the bottom located at the de-restricted speed signs approaching the Great Barn.

The drainage is failing at the inlets of all 7 drains that are situated at the left side of the lane and approximately every Thirty meters as they are then placed up to the junction with the B4019 Highworth Road. Over many months this has led to water cascading down the Holloway and covering the road in times of heavy rain and storms until this reaches the drain situated at the side of highway and adjacent to the house address 'Four Winds'. To add to this the road surface all along the section of the 'single lane' route from the junction at B4019 and to the de-restricted speed signs, also has the added hazard of stones, debri and detritus that is covering virtually all of the roads surface. The road edgings are also broken away and gives way all along this route to create a line of pot holes that also require resurface and repair. This is a route, that while an emergency responder for our local Ambulance Service, offers the only feasible and expedient means to be able to agrees onto the B4019 and then to respond to potentially urgent and life-threatening calls to the local villages of Coleshill, Buscott and those locations to the South of Great Coxwell. While the condition and state of this particular route is such that it can potentially impede my response to a potential casualty or critical incident, I have to consider that the safety towards myself and other road users is paramount, but cannot be maintained while the roadway remains in this state. I have been unable, due to a failure in the pairing system, to be able to upload any of the seven photos that I have available to be able to give a clearer identification of the drainage inlets concerned.

With regard to this matter reported by me initially on 4th October 2024, that this matter has been passed for investigation. I would, while acknowledging the support of your department in progressing my enquiry, like to point out that my recent observations of the area of the lane would seem to identify that white markings have been placed around 3-4 of the minor potholes that exist to the right hand side of the lane at the bottom and towards the 'de-restricted' road signs. I notice however that what might be regarded as the more hazardous areas to the left side and approaching up towards the B4019 junction, have in fact not been marked for repair? And also where there is greater deterioration of the road surface and where the debris and detritus is causing the major blockage to all drains along this route and where water is then allowed to further cascade into the main Holloway lane and beyond the Great Barn. I do appreciate that this is probably an area of particular 'technical' concern to the departments involved, and that there may be a number of facets, washout from the banks on either side, blocked drains and ditches that take the water from the surrounding fields on either side. I would like to be able to request for any further updates that might be available in due course, to be made available here, or to me directly where this is possible and in order to have some understanding of the further action to be taken on this matter and as to how this might be being resolved. With thanks and appreciation. Malcolm Gee.
