Anfon at Reading Borough Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 6479316.
Cars regularly drive between 30-40 mph on this road particularly on stretch over bridge and Watlington Street.
In poor weather the road is dangerous for cyclists and there is no discernible cycle path on the left hand side when coming from East Reading and heading in the direction of train station. Cars pass close to cyclists and many do not give adequate required space of 1.5m when passing.
There is a small piecemeal amount of cycle pathway by the roundabout on the station approach by the Abbey Ruins but this regularly gets covered in leaves in autumn and can be very slippery and dangerous.
Given the high yearly council tax fees and car permit costs, poor parking options, as well as Labour's stated aim to reduce carbon emissions by 2/3rds by 2030 why not start by improving the cycling network and infrastructure in Reading?
Reading is an extremely car centric city but given the design of the city centre some basic cycle paths could easily be built to ease congestion and promote a healthier and less sedentary lifestyle. It is low hanging fruit if the Council is serious about improving the air quality and decarbonising the town.
