Primary school

The lack of road safety outside this primary school must be escalated. I urge your management/ counsellors to visit the school at 0830am or 1515 in the week day to observe the following;

1) There is no road signage to warn drivers that they are near a school and that extra vigilance is necessary on approach. 2) School children (aged 2-7 years old) are required to leave playground directly onto Steels Lane without a pavement, then cross the road (unmarked crossing) to walk up the path to the village hall where school parking is advised. 3) At the same time, the school bus turns and blocks part of the road, limiting visibility, parents abandon cars in the verge (no marked parking spaces) and cars fly around the blind bend as children come out the front of the school onto Mill End. 4) Speed limit remains 30mph throughout, despite previous campaigning.

This area is an accident waiting to happen.
