Thank you for you enquiry. When we assess wood decay fungi, we take into consideration its form to start their identification process: (brackets, crusts, clubs and balls, mushrooms or polypores). In the case of the Cherry plum tree referred to in this enquiry, the stem is colonised with Chicken of Woods which is a weak pathogenic fungi. However it is noted the tree has basal rot which the tree stem is hollow and so works are raised that have been issued to the contractor to fell the tree with a replacement added to the planting schedule 2024/25 in hand to be planted next planting season starting in November running through to March 2025.
