This street light is extremely bright, clearly due to it being of the newer variety. Unfortunately, it seems to also be at the perfect height, perfect position and perfect angle to shine through the window of myself and my wife’s bedroom as well as that of our 8 year old daughters because the rooms are right next to each other. The light is also on throughout the entire night even though there is quite a lot of light there because of not only other street lights but also traffic lights and the outside lights at the primary school. We’ve tried thicker curtains but they were a bit much over the summer. And if you want the window open then the slightest breeze will part them and you can then have shards of bright light shining in your face and waking you up. If we are in the dining room, which is directly below our room it is actually even worse in terms of the glare but obviously we don’t sleep in there so it’s less intrusive. Even sitting on the patio outside the dining room we have to squint because as soon as the light comes on, which is well before actual nightfall, we are lit up like a Christmas tree. It’s not like we can just suck it up and turn our chairs to face the other way because we’d just be staring at the back of the house 6 inches from our faces. I hope that description is enough and you can understand our plight and take pity on us by putting a shield up so that the light is deflected down rather than down but also directly towards our windows. Hopefully it can be turned off for a while overnight as well as it doesn’t seem necessary all night. I’ve only included the one photo because I don’t think k anymore will help explain the situation better. Thank you.
