The drain not working effectively to remove water from the road

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori The drain is damaged yn ddienw am 14:25, Dydd Gwener 23 Awst 2024

Anfon at Gloucestershire County Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 6391006.

The drain at the bottom of 2 Stowfield Cottage's driveway is not actually damaged itself but any rainwater coming from the Lydbrook direction has to go uphill to get to the drain, hence the water constantly remains at the bottom of our driveway (causing damage to the road and our driveway in the form of a very large pothole, which i have reported to you already and which is down for repair.) Sometimes if the drain is blocked excess water can cover the whole width of the road making the road fairly impassable, i often have to go out after heavy rainfall to sweep the water uphill to the drain to clear the flood. The drain needs to be moved to a better position to work effectively.

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
