Oxfordshire County Council’s policy of "undertaking one grass cut a year" (quote) seems to have gone out of the window. The triangle at the top of Boddington Lane has now been cut down twice, apparently by a council gang, not "Landowners and occupiers". Here is the earlier report from June: "The triangle at the top of Boddington Lane has in past years had a wonderful display of MEADOW CRANESBILL, a favourite of pollenating bees and other insects. There is no traffic visibility issue here but the patch gets cut down before these can flower, and one year recently when they were in full bloom. Despite the unfortunate planting of daffodils the plants are still there. This species flowers from June to August, so might still show something this year if left alone. In future years please don't mow this lovely patch (apart perhaps from a narrow strip alongside the footpath and road) until the cranesbill has flowered and seeded. Perhaps it will then be restored to its former glory." Two weeks ago I updated that to say that the cranesbill was growing back. Now it is gone again!
