Loose manhole cover causing ear-splitting noise

The title says it all. Except to add here that the council used their power to remove the problem from this website. Why? It is has not been fixed, and there is no evidence that it is going to be. There are many residential flats in this area and the noise is so loud I cannot sleep in my flat half-way down Marsh Street.

Bristol City Council closed this problem when it was previously reported (ref: 6063774) saying they would refer it to someone else as this is not something they would deal with. This is outrageous. It was closed 3 weeks ago and nothing has happened in that period. The noise from cars travelling over the metal cover is now worse. This is a residential area and this prohibits people being able to sleep. Please fix this ASAP and please do not close this complaint until it is fixed.

Please see the photos for the exact manhole which is the problem. There appears to be a white X on the middle of the 3 in question - it’s actually the middle of the 3 manholes that makes the noise when driven over. This has been a problem for months. Please fix it ASAP and please DO NOT close this issue until it has been fixed.

Can someone at Bristol City Council please say why this problem has not been fixed after the problem has been outstanding for months on end? This case was previously under the reference 6063774, and then, for no reason, the City Council closed this report, saying it was nothing to do with them. This is simply outrageous. This is a residential area. We cannot sleep without constantly being interrupted by cars, bikes, busses - whatever the traffic may be - travelling over this iron road covering, which generates the loud sound. There is plenty of information in this thread for you to specifically identify the road covering in question, therefore there is no excuse for you to avoid fixing this immediately. We have all been very patient whilst you, Bristol City Council, have done nothing. Time’s up. Please fix this now.

This manhole has not been fixed and BCC has not even responded since it this re-reported on 13th August 2024. The original issue was closed with BCC doing nothing to remedy the loose manhole. It is now 14th September and continues to be a significant noise. I have identified through the many pictures attached above which manhole this related to and have stated the previous case number. PLEASE FIX THE MANHOLE. It is outrageous that this is being ignored.

I have now raised this as a complaint with Bristol City Council (Ref: 51259975) as there has been no response nor remedial action taken.
