Red Light exiting JD Gym stuck on

This evening dropped daughter at the gym. When exiting the gym the green light did not trigger for 3 cycles of the lights. Due to this I believed that it was broken so had to turn left on red [even though I needed to go right] or believed I would still be there now. I cut through Tesco to come back up Gloucester Road as was my original intention and the light seemed to be working again. I think therefore the syncing of the light needs adjustment [understand that it was rush hour] as others could make the same assessment. Exiting the gym is very diffficult due to the lights syncing and traffic turning right from Waitrose and heading down Gloucester Road jumping through amber/red.
