A letter was sent to you on May 7th describing the issue and no reply has been received. The 'solved' status on the website does not address the deeper lying problem of the drain flooding over when rains fall. Mr and Mrs Fletcher of 1 Old Bristol Road have written to you with a full description and a request for assistance. It has now been 5 weeks with no response.

Any thunderstorm or heavy rainfall results in flooding on the road because of the blocked drain opposite Mr and Mrs Fletcher’s House at 1 Old Bristol Road. At number 1 Old Bristol Road the additional problem exists of cars spraying the rainfall sitting on the blocked drain into the property which floods the cellar. Every time the flood happens the front bed at the front of the house is washed away with any new planting being ruined each time and lost. For keen gardeners this is a real sadness. New drains on Tetbury Lane/A46 were installed in the past. What now happens is that the new drains get blocked and the overflow comes to the corner of Old Bristol Road instead. Mr Fletcher has, for the past 30 years, repeatedly cleared the original drains at the corner of Tetbury Lane and the A46 to prevent the issue reaching 1 Bristol Road. The weather appears to have got worse so that any significant rainfall guarantees to fill the storm drains. Mr and Mrs Fletcher have noticed in the past months that the nature of the rain collecting in the drain is heavily coloured with building sand which is a new feature and we suspect is caused by the building work at Malt House. The heavy traffic load is having an impact on adjacent roads to the extent that the fire hydrant on the corner of the A46 (again next to the Fletchers property) is broken and needs repair, We therefore ask that you copy Severn Trent in to this correspondence as we are led to believe that the fire hydrant is the responsibility of Severn Trent. ST appear to be booked in for 18-20 June.
This seems now to be a multi-agency issue and we would be grateful for your urgent attention and liaison with one another to mobilise capital budgets and work planning. We are anxious to see rapid progress

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
