Huge pothole outside building site

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori A pothole in road yn ddienw am 08:39, Dydd Sul 26 Mai 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Anfon at Gloucestershire County Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 6021117.

I drove down this road yesterday (saturday 25th may) and outside the site where platform are building homes there is a massive pothole or sunken drain that felt like i had hit a brick wall as my tyre sank into it at 50mph. It needs levelling out because that would cause a cyclist to fly over the handlebars and is dangerous to motorcyclists as well. I tried to avoid it but its in the middle of the lane and i was unable to go around it.

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
