Thu 28 Mar 2024: The 'experiment' to encourage parents/carers taking children to/from Warren Road Primary School to park in Shire Lane by removing the former gate near Sevenoaks Road has not worked. Currently there is some parking by dog walkers, delivery/commercial vehicle drivers taking a break, and bus drivers during daylight hours. After dark there is evidence of nefarious activities in shadowy areas towards and around the Salt Depot, which the Police can confirm. We regularly find/report litter and nitrous oxide cylinders that have been tossed out of vehicles, along with incidences of fly-tipping near the Salt Depot. The woods are used as a toilet too. As a consequence we request the gate is reinstated mid-way along Shire Lane so as to retain the main access to The Green for idverde, and enable it to be used as a turning point for others, with sufficient parking towards Sevenoaks Road remaining. Chelsfield Ward Councillors and the Head of Neighbourhood Management are aware of this request. TIA
