email rcvd 16.02.24 - Dear Sir,
Has the traffic light junction at Hempsted Bridge been passed by a “Safety Audit” in the light of the 185 properties planned at Hill Farm and other new developments that will increase the traffic?
At the Outline Application stage (20/00315/OUT), concerns were raised by Hempsted Residents Association, and many others, about the safety of this junction - Approaching from the City on Secunda Way, turning right into Hempsted is dangerous for one car, and progressively worse for a queue in the overtaking lane. To avoid this danger, Hawthorn Park residents would have to drive through the village on the narrow Hempsted Lane, endangering schoolchildren on this narrow lane.
This junction is also a common topic in the objections received against the Reserved Matters application (23/00993/REM). The problem was highlighted when the other end of Hempsted Lane was closed for the Fuel Dump development.
I look forward to hearing from you, and suggest it would be reckless to allow the Hill Farm development to start without substantial improvements.
Best regards,
