Zero street maintenance & new pavement surface required, not repaired.

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori Palmantau/llwybrau troed gan mike ranson am 20:21, Gwen 22 Rhagfyr 2023

Anfon at Cyngor Caerdydd llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 5350248.

There has been zero street maintenance on robert street cf24 4pd for several months. Throughout the year, weeds have grown upto 4ft in height at it's peak. The weeds are destroying the pavement which has also made the pavement worse outside my own property no 65. I have a long history with cardiff council to get the pavement relaid properly but to no avail. The pavement is not badly deteriorated that i am still having damp problems inside my property and the crumbling tarmac is being taken into the house damaging internal carpets. The pavement disrepair started in the mid 90's i think and since then, i have had serious damp issues inside my property. I have had an inspection done to my property by housing enforcement who have picked up on the dampa nd mould inside the room where i say it is out of my control as cardiff council are not performing their duties and service. I request that the pavement immediately outside no 65 robert street be completely renewed and the weeds be dealt with. my previous complaint ha sbeen ignored and this is a follow up from about one month ago.

  • I have complained numerous times to cardiff council and still nothing. I finally managed to get through to a human being and managed to log the complaints officially. i have not been back to the area but highly unlikely that they would have followed up as i find cardiff council, useless, ignorant, incompetent and not fit for purpose. It is impossible to get through to humans these days and where i managed last week was because i stayed on hold forever and finally someone picked up but still sent around the mulberry bush to get to the department i needed. I can see cardiff council being the next one to go bankrupt just like the other labour run councils. They cutting back on services to save money yet theyt bleeding us landlords of thousands to stay in line with their pathetic legislations. suck the small guys dry.

  • My god, months now and still nothing done. Cathays is becoming aghetto because of cardiff council not doing what they should be doing. They are down my throat about my rental property that everything ha sto be perfect, including general waste management yet the streets look like east london. Poy holes, cracked pavements, weeds of 4ft high plus, blocked drains, litter from lazy tenants and non responsive landlords who somehow get away with it.

  • As always, cardiff run labour council have refused to even communicate. the problem has not been fixed. The weeds have died back but as the weather improves, the weeds will come back and again grow up to 4ft in height. The whole communication system with cardiff council is not fit for purpose, neither is the welsh government. wales is becoming like east london.

  • I was back in the area two weeks ago and i can confirm that the problem has not been fixed. The weeds are still there, some have started to grow again but there is still plenty of other weeds along the kerbsides and properties on show which will be growing back as the weather improves. As always, cardiff council; have not responded from first report last june/july 2023. Not fit for purpose. They strike you down for being a landlord but fail when they have to do what they should be doing.

  • Zero action still from cardiff council. useless. good ole labour run council. they will be running the country soon, so i suppose i am being lead in gently. RIP cardiff, wales and UK. If you want to see change, get things done, save the UK then vote REform UK save us before we hit the dark ages.

  • Yep, cardiff council has still failed tod o any street maintenance. It still looks like a ghetto. Certain HMO properties still have the same rubbish outside their properties as three months ago. It still looks and fells like a ghetto. The binmen collected rubbish today and they left spillages. Still lazy. As for the weeds, the weeds are now starting to grow. These will just keep growing and end of like trees like the first one i complained about on this site, early last year. They will be left to grow 5ft tall.

  • I was there two weeks ago and can conform that the pavement is still in a dangerous condition and that weeds have all started to grow again. not holding my breath. I may have to deal with the pavement condition myself, as in dig in up and use concrete to put it right. absolutely shocking how ignorant labour run cardiff council is.

  • Must be over a year now i have tried getting through to the useless labour run cardiff council. Not just the weeds that are growing around 4ft maybe 5ft now on the pavements but the pavement is particularly in a dangerous condition now. It was a repair done years ago by some trainees i reckon as i could have done a better job myself. The repair tarmac is past it's sell by date and all pitted which has created a 30 to 40mm edge around it;s outside, perfect for pensioners to trip up and brake a limb. If any pensioners are readinb this then i would be more than happy to write you a witness statement if you do fall over the area outside my property. I couls always dig the pavement up myself and lay a new pavement with membrane and sealant underneath and a concrete surface. The condition of the pavement which is all cracked is causing rising damp inside my property. Welsh water dug up my street many years ago and since then, i have had endless problems with damp. The council accepted the crap tarmac job done by welsh water which has never been replaced but a skin of tarmac over the top. I'm fed up of taking hotos all the time. trust me, it is a stil a grassy paddock on the whole of robert street, cathays.

  • The problem has not been fixed. I didnt expect the council to do it. they failed the previous two years. The weeds have all died off now but they will be back in full bloom next year. Cardiff council are utter sh**. that is what you expect from labour control. System dont work, staff cant be bothered, great business.

  • After some 18 months reporting this, it has not been fixed. Not surprised. I will now resurface the pavement myself outside my property. I have water ingress caused by the conditin of the pavement. I know i will do a better job than the council and i could be waiting til year 3000 by the time someone at cat cardiff council decides to pull their labour leftie finger out.

  • Exactly the same as expected. not touched, i bet it has never even been looked at. they read these messages and delete them. who do you escalate it too? it falls on deaf ears no matter who you try and contact. that is another problem, you cannot contact them as they hide behind chat bots. very difficult to speak directly to a human being.

  • Amazingley, it has been fixed. or they have just strimmed what was above ground and the roots remain the ground until the spring, then back to square one. dont worry, i will still report if the crop comes back.
