Leaves blocking drains and trees need to be pruned urgently

Over the past few weeks, a significant number of fallen leaves have accumulated and are now covering the roadside gullies in this particular area. The blockage will impend the natural flow of water and poses a risk of surface water flooding in the area. Please ensure that these leaves and debris are cleared as soon as possible; it is also a health and safety risk for elderly people accessing the park. Also, we would like to highlight the issues of overgrown trees adjoining Magdalen Grove, especially around the lamppost. The dense branches are blocking all available light and considering the early onset of darkness during winter, it is crucial to address this situation promptly. I urgently request the council to arrange for the pruning of these trees to enhance visibility and safety in the area.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. In line with the Bromley Tree Management Strategy (https://www.bromley.gov.uk/ downloads/ file/ 1752/ tree-management-strategy-2023-to-2027) The Council will not remove or prune trees where requests are based on the following issues: Excessive leaf or fruit fall. Seasonal leaf and/or fruit fall should be expected and is not a reason to require pruning or removal of trees. The Council will not clear leaves or from private properties but does manage leaf fall on Council owned footways and highways which can be dealt with by Street Cleansing (Tel: 0208 313 4557). Works are raised and have been sent to the contractor for completion to cut back the tree from the lighting column.

  • The works that you have 'raised and sent to your contractor regarding the pruning of the tree from the lighting column' have not been completed. A van came once and the workmen just sat in there for half an hour without doing anything. Please ensure that this work is completed ASAP

  • Thank you for your comments. The contractor is in hand to re-visit site. Please note that following Tuesdays storm winds which resulted in a number tree's being damaged, the teams are prioritising the storm clean up first. Thank you for your continued patience.
