Sinking pavement

Adroddwyd drwy Android yn y categori Pavement Defect yn ddienw am 09:31, Llun 2 Hydref 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Anfon at Bromley Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 5051561.

This issue has been reported every year for the past 3-4 years. The council attend and relay the pavement but the reason for the pavement sinking is never investigated. Earlier this year you advised that you had passed this matter to Thames Water as you considered they were the cause. The issue has still not been resolved. Thames Water have attended and continue to refer to different departments needing to visit and investigate. The issue however is that the pavement is now extremely dangerous and the slabs have sunk further. I trust that you are in contact with Thames Water to resolve the issue which is being caused to a pavement area that is Bromley Council's responsibility. Someone will sustain an injury from this area which has never been properly dealt with. I assume that Bromley Council have not simply passed this to Thames Water and is then not monitoring. This is not on my property and is not my responibility, but is in an area that is your responsibility. There are quite a few children who live on this street and someone is going to get hurt. Please confirm that this is being monitored and followed up with Thames Water as the reason for the sinking needs to be investigated and the pavement needs to be made safe. My previous enquiry number was 4194070.

  • Thank you for carrying out a repair. The slabs however, especially the central ones, are very loose and have moved already. They do not seem to have any sand/cement around them. They will need re fitting.

  • This problem has still not been resolved following on from your message of the 2/1/24. The paving is again getting worse. See the photographs attached. This has been an ongoing problem for many years. Whilst you keep replacing the slabs, you are not solving the problem. The sand beneath the slabs is disappearing causing the slabs to drop. They represent a clear danger to pedestrians, especially at the moment. If you consider that the reason for the problem lies with another entity, i.e. the water board, you need to address it with them and arrange a joint inspection. You are responsible for the maintenance of the pavement and this is not being maintained. I await confirmation that this is being investigated further. If it requires a joint inspection with another entity, please arrange it. Please do not simply relay the same slabs without solving the issue. This is now very urgent as someone is going to fall.
