Dangerous obstructions: fallen branches & illegal fence

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori Obstruction blocking access gan Shirley Brown am 12:10, Mer 13 Medi 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Anfon at Bristol City Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 4989741.

On my regular early morning walk on Stoke Lodge Village Green, I noticed that large branches have fallen from one of the tall pine trees located on the NNW border behind Stoke Paddock Road, completely blocking the “perimeter walkway” outside Cotham School’s fence, and destoying two fence posts and three fence panels. The attached photos were taken shortly before 7am on Weds 13 September. It is extremely fortunate that no-one was walking in the narrow area between the fence and the border of trees and shrubs when these branches fell, because the fence would have severely restricted their available escape routes. I hope this avoidable danger will be eliminated. Since the TVG registration of Stoke Lodge on 22 August 2023, Cotham School and Bristol City Council have rendered themselves liable to prosecution for continuing to allow the fence to “inclose” and “encroach” on Bristol Village Green 29, under Section 12 of the Inclosure Act 1857 and Section 29 of the Commons Act 1876. Please “fix our Village Green” by arranging removal of the immediate obstruction, and expediting the removal of the now-illegal fence. Thank you.

  • The red arrow on the map now is NOT where I placed the green arrow in my report, it has been moved off the border walkway on Stoke Lodge Village Green into the back garden of a house in Stoke Paddock Road, which is confusing

  • Many thanks to the team of tree surgeons who were on site the same day my report was made, and worked hard for two days to clear the footpath and make the area as safe as possible by leaving the mangled fence (three panels & two posts) beside the gap with red&white tape around it as a warning of danger. I trust prompt action will now be taken to ensure that those responsible soon remove this unsightly and potentially dangerous waste so that this problem can be considered completely "fixed". Thank you!
