Traffic light settings to discourage drivers using the road as a short cut

To enable the main London road traffic to flow a little easier and reduce the amount of traffic using the side roads as a short cut, the lights need to be fazed slightly to allow more traffic to flow on the main road. If the traffic from the side road was help up by 30-40 seconds longer and then stay green for a shorter time on the side road, this should allow the London road traffic to vacate Reading quicker. In fact all the lights in Reading need to be investigated which includes looking at using the sensors rather than timing.
