This is a recurring problem with the drainage in this Close. After recent rains it develops and if only brief downpour eventually drains. However, with the recent ongoing rainfall the accumulation of water has increased to depths which reach door sill of my car. As this is a cul-de-sac it has to be driven through when leaving and entering. It also cuts off safe use of the garage area. I am concerned about damaging vehicles and safety of riding motorcycle from garage.

Diweddariadau

I have had several emails from WSCC Highways saying that they are on the case. The water is very slowly subsiding and if rainfall holds off then, when inspected, there will likely be little to see. Apparently this problem dates back many years.

Nothing has been done yet. Light rain last week created a big puddle that has thankfully evaporated since as the pothole it conceals is not getting any smaller!

Workmen from the council have been out today and it took at least 3 trucks worth of emptying to remove all the water which had been accumulating. Apparently it back fills rapidly and the drainage system might not be part of the general system. Ie soak away somewhere. So it’s an interim solution as yet, see what happens next rainfall!

Light rainfall has been ok, no repairs noticed to the potholes though. Still need significant downpour to see what happens!

So far so good, but then again we haven’t had the downpours like winter. The level of water is just under the grating and light rain seems to have drained. A truck from Highways drainage did drive round a few days ago and had a look but no mention of preventative measures.
