There are a number of substantial trees adjacent to the property which are displaying signs of Ash Die Back, their form and structure present an increased risk to public and property. The trees are growing on LBB land known as Aspen Wood which is found between Warren Road and Windsor Drive, Chelsfield. An inspection of the trees and LBB targets by a member of your Arboricultural Team is required. The crowns of the Ash trees are now overhanging the property roofline and chimney and will, at the very least, require limb/crown reduction back to previous pruning points, work previously undertaken by LBB. However, it may be worth considering dismantling these trees to ground level this season whilst the are still climbable rather than waiting until they are too brittle and unpredictable to climb. Otherwise future works will undoubtedly be very expensive if a track MEWP is needed to enable this work to be done safely.

Thanks for the update, However I was a little confused when I received it as there was no evidence of any work having been carried out! I thought I’d leave it a bit before I responded in case it was a mix up and the works were programmed in…… sadly not, it is just untrue the works are not complete, a few trees were sprayed with paint indicating they needed addressing, but that has to date been the extent of the work.

The responsible Tree Officer will review on site in due course. Please note, crews do not always undertake all the works on the same day at a given location due to a number of technical and logistical reasons. Some works linked to this enquiry may have been completed.

I keep getting updates saying this is in progress….. however I feel this is somewhat inaccurate as nothing has happened. The silver birch that I was told needed to be removed a year ago as it was dead is still precariously standing, a number of the dead bows in the ash trees have also fallen. Please can I get an honest update at some point? Thanks

Thank you for the comment, works was raised to remove deadwood in the trees, this has now been completed by our contractor, no other works have been raised at this time. Bromley Borough Council does not reduce trees that over hang boundaries, under common law the owner of the property has a right to cut back over hang to there boundary.

Please can someone visit site, as I’m disappointed that you’re inferring that I’m not telling the truth!!! No works have been undertaken…. There is still a substantial amount of deadwood in the trees!!

The problem is still an issue, the deadwood in the tree's is still there and would like it removed. It seems the problem isn't being resolved and would like this assessed as soon as possible. The tree officer come out over a year ago and spotted a dead silver birch that would need to be removed and nothing has happened since.

Due to three recent storms which has resulted in a high volume of tree related emergency callouts which the teams are making progress working their way through. The storm clear up process may impact causing delays for routine works raised for enquiries.
The contractor is in hand to return to site to complete all works raised in relation to the enquiry.
