Pavement width is inadequate

In December 2021, the DfT published a long paper called "Inclusive Mobility". On pages 27-30, it sets out the minimum widths acceptable for pavements. All the pavemnent between Watersfield and Coldwaltham is now ovedrgrown and we are seeking ways to address this. A previous correspondent has referenced this photos. Is the Parish Council empowered to take axction to clear these pavements to comply with requirements?

I have a suspicion that my notes about "pavement width" have been misunderstood. It is not a lack of pavement that we are concerned about, but rather the fact that half the actual width is overgrown and unuseable due to never being properly serviced. It is this "clearing" of the full existing width that we would wish to explore with you. This applies to vertually all the pavements between Pulborough and our boundary with Bury - the pavements are there, but they are buried under soil and undergrowth....it means pedestrians are not safe, due to be so close to passing traffic - especially the slipstream of HGVs. We are still waiting for some sort of response about clearing the full width of the pavements - so many residents complain about this.
