Difficulty for Emergency Ambulances

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori Roads/highways yn ddienw am 17:08, Maw 18 Ionawr 2022

Anfon at Hampshire County Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 3250355.

The length 30-metre length of Sopwith Road between its junction with Leigh Road and its junction with Benny Hill Close needs to be continuous double-yellow lines. Currently cars and commercial vans park all day on this short length of road, thereby hampering and slowing down access to Catherine Court, the over-70s block of Residential flats. This gated entrance is used throughout the day for cars, regular Emergency Ambulances, and delivery vehicles. It is a tight turn for them that requires the full width of Sopwith Road. Parked vehicles hinder this, and on occasions even prevent it.

  • No organisation in Eastleigh or the wider Hampshire area seems willing to help ambulances and other vehicles ease their way into Catherine Court. Any advice would be welcome.

  • Getting the right thing done is being addressed by our newly-elected councillor. So there is hope.

  • The left hand photo shows how close a visiting ambulance has to get to the gate to gain entry whilst avoiding vehicles parked on Sopwith Road. Sometimes ambulances arrive in pairs and have to ‘wriggle’ to gain entry due to cars parked on Sopwith Road. They are usually Emergency Ambulances where speed is vital.
