Near where we live, the land to the north of Clockhouse Lane East was removed from the Green Belt last year. Since then, we saw a rush to chop trees and make space for housing development even before planning applications are made. The other side of Clockhouse Lane East is however still green belt. Unfortunately, there are not many well-established trees on this side. There are some trees in our garden, and some in our neighbour’s small plot. The rest of the undeveloped part of this Green Belt are made of bramble and small trees. Nevertheless, this is still home to birds and many species including endangered ones, such as bats, hedgehogs, and owls. We fear our neighbour will chop the remaining trees and make way for a secondary access to his industrial estate. We ask to protect as many trees as possible. The ones we are asking to protect are: Two well established Ash trees, and two Oak trees measuring over 130cm each in diameter (approx. 70 years old). We would like to add that Clockhouse Lane East is prone to flooding, so we believe preserving these trees will also contribute towards protecting this road from serious flooding.
