Request for tree preservation order (TP0)

Adroddwyd drwy desktop yn y categori Trees gan John Matthissen am 21:41, Gwen 30 Ebrill 2021

Anfon at Mid Suffolk District Council llai na munud yn hwyrach. Cyfeirnod FixMyStreet: 2700502.

These mature Cedar of Lebanon trees are two of a group of three (the other is at the end of Burton Drive approximately 200 yards away). All three are outstanding in the landscape (on the edge of Needham Market, visible for considerable distance). It is likely they were planted by the Reverend Robert Uvedale, the noted botanist who I understand was rector of Barking Church from 1699 to 1723 and who is reputed to have introduced the Cedar of Lebanon tree to England (including those in Barking churchyard) – they are therefore of particular historic interest to the town. I am requesting a TPO for the above three trees, the two photographed being at particular risk as they are showing significant signs of neglect including probable damage to roots by annual ploughing closer to the trees than the spread of the canopy, and lower branches frequently broken off in recent years. Cedars of Lebanon generally live for 600 years or more so these are only half way through their life.
