Traffic so fast

I can not believe the speed of the traffic along London road . We have experience at night while walking our dogs Also during the day

Even in Lockdown the Traffic and lorries to fast .Very dangerous. As we have to leave a gap when passing other people the pathway is not wide enough ,So you have to go near the road. Kind Regards

Thank you for giving us another chance to say No it has not been fixed .The road is 40 mph .I can understand why its not getting monitored .

I agree with this to an extent - people do come down Adhurst Hill at 60-70MPH, and when they reach the 40MPH limit they just carry on going. It's quite difficult to tackle if you're cycling down the hill too with traffic nearly piling into the back of you because they want to retain speed and push past. I can understand why, but it doesn't change the fact speeding down here is outright illegal.
The reason for this became obvious when I was driving down it myself and did brake for the 40 limit. People don't want to brake for the drop in speed limit at the bend. Instead there is a psychological temptation to use the next uphill to slow down and most people won't brake unless there's an obstruction (or a speed camera). I agree with you - this is never going to work and there needs to be a change. This is an ideal location for a police speed trap, so contacting the police is a good idea (use 119).
An ideal way to fix this would be to put a roundabout at the junction to B2199 Heath Road East. There are queues on that road in the mornings anyway, so it would be a benefit whilst slowing down overall traffic. There would not be queues at the roundabout on either road. Dealing with alterations to roads to increase safety *is* a council matter, so you could bounce that back to the council.
Be careful waving at cars to slow down as it can be easy to get in the wrong and the vast majority of folks on the road won't know why you're doing it. There was someone who lived at the top of Stairs Hill in Selborne who used to do this, and yet they were standing in the middle of the road, waving at people who were actually well under the speed limit, and travelling uphill! (I do agree that changes need to be made though)!

Like every thing Parish council / council we are looking into it ???ever month etc etc etc

If the road was monitored by someone that can issue Tickets ,At least someone would be looking into the problem .
