Suggestion to improve traffic flow

During rush hour there is often long tail backs on this road. I have a suggestion to help improve it.

The pedestrian crossing that is on approach to the traffic lights on the A47 is currently 2 separate crossings with a central reservation. This causes a pinch point in the traffic and when there are 5 or more cars wanting to turn right nobody going ahead onto Braunstone Lane or left towards the City Centre can pass. If the crossing was made into one single crossing and the central reservation replaced for a longer right turn lane then I believe this could reduce congestion at this particular area considerably.

There would also be an environmental benefit to this as there would be less standing traffic and I believe the cost to implement the change would be relatively minimal compared to any major road improvements
